5 ways to use ODDDIST beyond vocals

ODDDIST tends to get reached for on vocals first, because that's where saturation usually lives in a mix. The same five controls and the ODD macro work just as well on almost anything else with a transient to grab onto.

1. Drum bus, low Drive and low ODD

A small amount of Drive on a full drum bus adds cohesion without turning the kit into a wall of noise, and a modest ODD setting keeps the loudest hits from getting proportionally more saturation than the ghost notes around them.

2. Bass, Tone pulled toward the low end

Distortion is one of the more reliable ways to make a bass audible on small speakers, since the harmonics it generates sit higher than the fundamental. Tone shifted down keeps the added harmonics from crowding into the range a vocal or a snare needs.

3. Synth leads, high Saturation, moderate Mix

A clean synth patch and a wall-of-fuzz one are often the same patch with Saturation and Mix pushed further, run in parallel rather than committed on the source track so the underlying tone stays reversible.

4. Master bus, ODD near zero

Distortion on a master bus is usually about adding a small amount of harmonic glue, not character you can point to. Low Drive, low Mix, and ODD close to zero keeps the behavior predictable across a whole mix instead of reacting differently section to section.

5. Guitars, React mode instead of a pedal emulation

Rather than modeling one pedal's fixed curve, React mode lets the same setting behave differently between a palm-muted verse and an open chorus, because the input itself is doing part of the work instead of a single frozen curve.
